Children’s Minister

 General Position
Skills:  

The Children’s Minister must have a dynamic faith in Jesus
Christ and a deep sense of call to ministry with children and young families.
We seek an energetic self-starter with a demonstrated passion for ministry with
children, a visionary leader with a bias for action, an effective organizer,
and a caring motivator and supporter of lay-persons.

 Responsibilities:

Children’s Ministry
Team

• Recruit
  and support team members and chairperson for the Children’s Ministry Team


• Work
  with the Children’s Ministry Team to create agendas for the weekly meetings


• Lead
  team in the formation of a ministry “Master Plan” consistent with the
  Sessions’ goals and objectives

Sunday School


Implement
a vital year-round Children’s Ministry Program on Sunday mornings for kids
from birth to 5th grade

• Welcome
  new families to Journey
  Church


• Connect
  new families to existing members of congregation


• Recruit
  and train volunteers


• Maintain
  a volunteer schedule


• Select
  and order curriculum


• Oversee
  a Sunday School Coordinator to prepare supplies


• Maintain
  Sunday School Registry

Special Events

• Direct
  Vacation Bible School


• Recruit,
  train, and supervise staff for summer ministries (i.e. Summer Sunday
  School)


• Develop
  other special events: Christmas, Easter, etc

 Childcare

• Supervise
  the Children’s Ministry component of any Adult Ministry program


• Assist
  the Childcare Coordinators in recruiting and training employees


• Oversee
  the Childcare Coordinators

 Administrative

• Develop
  and manage the Children’s Ministry budget


• Fulfill
  assignments as directed by the Head of Staff


• Attend
  weekly staff meetings


• Communicate
  to congregation about Children’s Ministry programs


• Maintain
  Children’s Ministry registration and attendance information

 Staff Development/
Training

• Recruit
  new ministry partners


• Plan
  and lead teacher training workshops


• Encourage
  teachers/leaders to attend “outside” workshops and training opportunities

Accountability:

The Children’s Minister is a member of the Journey Church
staff reporting directly to the Head of Staff. 
They are accountable to the Session through the direct supervision and
support of the Head of Staff.
